FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What is the minimum age to start for infant class?

A: Babies can start from 3 months old onwards.

Q: Is it safe for babies to be in chlorinated pool?

A: Yes, the public pools are clean and well maintained by the singapore sports council and regularly checked by the NEA.

Babies are safe to be in a chlorinated pool unless if you have any serious medical conditions and sensitive skin then you may consult a doctor before you register.

Q: Must I be in the water with my baby during the infant class?

A: Yes, at least one parent will have to be in the water for the lesson. So parents will know how to teach and practice the skills that you will be learning from the coach. Furthermore you will have fun and enjoy the lesson with your baby, and your baby feel safe with you around.

Q: How many babies are there in a class?

A: There will be about 10 babies max, but if the location and class is in demand, there will be about 10-12 babies

Q: Are you an experienced, qualified and certified infant coach?

A: Yes, I am a qualified, certified with almost 10 years of experienced specialised in infants and toddlers lessons.

I am a Singapore Sports Council Coach, Singapore Teacher association (UK), AUSTSWIM Infant & Preschool Aquatics, Diploma in Denmark (baby swimming).

Q: Should my baby have their immunisations first?

A: Not at all - babies can swim before they are vaccinated. Thousands of babies across the world have been taken swimming before being immunised, with no harmful effects.

Q: Must the adult be able to swim?

A: No. The water is shallow enough to stand up in, and you never have to go underwater unless you want to.

Q: Can both parents come along?

A: Either parent (or even grandparents or older brothers & sisters) can join in the fun in the pool, but due to space restrictions and the nature of the course, we can only allow one adult in the water with your child each week; anyone else is welcome to watch from the side. Please note that the person swimming with your child must be a responsible adult.

Q: Is there a waiting list?

A: Due to the popularity of our lessons, yes we have a waiting list so we do encourage you to put your name down.

Q: When can I get an underwater photo of my baby?

A: We run photoshoots at the end of every term, or you also want to try private photo shoots.

Q: When should I feed my baby or toddler?

A: We recommend trying to feed your baby 1-2 hours before the swimming lesson. Babies and toddlers can both get hungry after such a good workout, so be prepared to feed them or offer a snack afterwards!

Q: What about changing facilities?

A: As we mostly at public pools, Some of the pools do have tiny changing rooms, most venues have shower facilities, without water heater but it will be better if you could rinse before heading back home.

Q: What about nappies in the water?

A: All infant and toddler must wear a disposable or reusable swim nappy underneath and you may take a look at the various designs of our baby and toddler suit.

A: No, They won't be learning the same exercises or activities, Toddlers at this age have different mentality and characteristics, we have a slightly different approach to how we teach them and they will be learning something more advanced after their Infant Course

Q: If my child has not attended your Infant Course before, can my child still attend the Toddlers Class?

A: Yes, Definitely! It's never too late and better start now than later.

Q: Do parents have to be in the water with the child?

A: Yes. Parents will have to be in the water and assist your child as they are still not ready to be swimming independently by themselves.

Q: Will my child get any certifications?

A: Yes. They will receive Toddler Stage 1 for Term 1 and Stage 2 after Term 2.

Q: My child is 29 months old, can my child still join this class?

A: It would be better if you let your child try the preschool class. If your child is not comfortable or confident by themselves, you can accompany them in the pool for a few lessons and slowly let them learn to be independent.

Frequently Asked Questions for Preschoolers

Q: My child is 2 years old, can he/she join this class instead?

A: It's better if your child joins the Toddlers Class first, once your child is 2.5 years old he/she can then join our Preschool Group Classes.

Q: But my child is very confident and comfortable with strangers, can he/she still join?

A: If thats the case then we can assess and evaluate your child. If your child is ready, we would definitely love to accept your child into this class instead.

Q: What will my child learn in this class?

A: In the Preschool Class, we want your child to be confident in the water without having parents accompanying them. So the for most thing we will doing is to build up the confidence of your child by learning how to hold their breath and blowing bubbles while submerged underwater. From there onwards, It will be an open door to work on the various swimming skills.

Q: Will my child get certification after the term?

A: It depends on your child. Some 4 year olds are fast learners so they may be able to learn to forward swim or even the front crawl at such a young age. If we feel they are ready, we will definitely send them for the swim safer test. Otherwise, not to worry as mastering the basics first would be the better option instead of pressuring your child. Once we feel your child has mastered the basics, we will advice you how to move forward from there.

Q: How long is the class and how many students are attending each class?

A: 30 minutes per class with a maximum of 8 students.

A: Yes! Coach Kidd is very experienced and he specialises in these areas so your child is in good hands. But of course if we feel that your child needs more attention, we may suggest them going for private classes.
